Best Icon App Ive Seen but favicon feature needs updates

In short, stop putting a 1 pixel white border around my 16x16 favicons and also allow for the creation of a bundled ICO. Long-winded Explanation: When I create a 16x16 favicon, this app always puts a 1 pixel white border around it, replacing the border color I set. Doesnt matter what color I use, or how I save the file from Photoshop. If I wanted a white border, I would have drew one! The other thing is that this app doesnt let me change the image I want to use for the different sizes of the favicon. It just scales down my 48x48 icon for the 32x32 and 16x16, making the smaller sizes blurry. Not a huge deal, I can just make each one separately but a favicon should contain all the various sizes in a single ICO file. So while itd be nice to drag in three different file sizes to generate a single ICO, Id settle for having to create each one separately provided you had a "Merge Favicons" feature. Right now I have to use a separate app, on a Windows machine :( to merge the files so that the appropriate image is used for each size. What am I talking about? When Im on a Windows Computer using Internet Explorer, I see the 16x16 favicon to the left of the sites url. If I drag and drop that icon to my desktop, I get the 48x48 version. The image I had to settle for at 16x16 isnt the image I have to settle for at 48x48. I have the opportunity to make a nicer icon for that size because I have more pixels to work with. If all the ICO variations are in a single file, the correct image will show up at the various sizes the icon can be displayed, whether its on the desktop or listed smaller in a details view. Fix that white border problem and allow for merging different sized ICOs into a bundled ICO and thered be no other app that could touch this one.

great app

meets my iOS development needs perfectly. Simple to use, does what it should. --JSt

Very nice

I use this app quite often, it is very useful. However, I have found a bug. When creating favicon.ico images, the images get output as favlcon.ico instead of favicon.ico. No biggie though. Good job dev :)

Looks promising, apparently useless

This hangs immediately for me, and apparently does nothing. "Loading icons…" spins forever. So, definitely not worth the money without a patch.

Hmmmm

Im suppose to love on people, but this app makes it hard to be nice in my review. I will try very hard to be positive: This app probably should go back into beta and be free for testing, while bugs are worked out from the community. - Drag and drop doesnt work. Have to open photos manually. - Interface extremely illogical - Application speed is like that of todays apps on a 286 or something (very very slow) Im sorry developer.. Im finding it hard to like your app.. I will go back to Gimp and making my own 16x16 icons by hand.

Good start, but improvements needed

This is a great app that has huge potential for the "appreneurs" toolbox. A few shortcomings though. For example, it only allows you to put a single line of text on the icon. It needs to allow you to put as many lines of text as desired. Second it should come with some included borders/frames for the icon. Third, it should come with a few canned overlays besides the open feint overlay. Hard to believe these three basic improvements have not been implemented by version4. It should have these extra features because the only reason you would use this app is to avoid hiring a professional icon designer. If I have to get my own borders and overlays made, well why use the app? Not every developer is a game developer so expand beyond open feint. But this is a great app idea and a very good starting point for improvement.

Does what it does WELL!

As the title said. It works well for icon making/generating on desktop/laptop. Thanks devs.

Excellent Icon App!

This is the only Icon app that did what I need a app to do. Simple, fast and very easy to use. The only thing I wish it had was a drag and drop apply to folder feature. Thank You Empoc LLC!

Its Ok

I was trying to find a nice icon generator for web development. Basically I wanted to make my work in my art apps and have an easy way to preview and export my work in the proper formats for my needs. First off, I will say that the app itself is beautiful. It has lots of options, and allows me to get away from manually adding touches like glass and corners that Apple applies to icons automatically. I wanted the same thing for my Favicons. So in my run of making an icon for my current project, I experienced the following: First, I got everything set up and it was awesome applying different effects and text. So that was cool. But I then discovered that the app will not make a icon "set" in the ice format. That is to say, the current format for favicons includes a single ico file that has all of the different sizes contained within it. This app generates them separately, so thats no help. Second, I had a version that I ended up not liking, so I added a new png file without transparancy. I then applied whatever effects I wanted, and the app output the first old one in the formats I wanted (I didnt notice that the app queues the icons added. Third, the app completely crashed on the second output leaving me with no icons. I guess ill try it again, but I am not sure theres a point for me because it wont generate the format I need anyways. So, three stars for what should be an awesome app for those doing development for mobile platforms (minus my crash, that could be on me). Two stars deducted for just not being right for me, quirky output, and the crash (although it could have been me, I doubt it). Additionally I have noticed that any review that is slightly critical is geting marked as "not helpful". Having a healthy and honest discourse about apps allows for the customer to be as well informed as possible, and also provides valuable feedback to the app developers.

Dont waste your money

After several failed attempts to contact tech support for assistance with thier app, three weeks later I have given up. Dont waste your time or money on this app.

Good but needs update for iOS7

This app does what it says, but it needs to be updated for the new icon sizes for iOS7. Hopefully the next update will fix this.

Frustrating as hell

There is nothing worse than buying an app and having it crash every time you try to run it. I reviewed all of the apps requirements before buying it (current version 4.1), and yet it crashes every time I try to open an image (except once when I recreated an Icons directory). The app wont let me drag an image into the designated area. Apparently, this problem has occurred before on 10.6.8 and yet the problem still exists, so maintenance of the product is apparently an issue.

Could be better

The interface is poorly done and confusing. Control settings are not saved. Selecting Help returns a "Not Found" in the web browser. Not all required icon sizes for iOS7 are created. Wheres the QA? I ended up purchasing "Icon Drop" which is cheaper and does exactly what I want.

Does What I Need

Very basic functionality but gets the job done, and knows all the icons youll need for iOS 6/7 apps. Just create a fully square (without transparency) icon image in your favorite graphics editor, drag it here, and have it generate all the sizes, spotlight, settings, etc., versions of the icons for all the devices. Cant give it 5 stars because of the strange interface, but glad I got it.

SUPER USEFUL

Saves so much time and headache, worth every penny! Thanks!!

Excellent App and Invaluable Tool for Designers/Developers

This app is worth every penny. It’s a huge time saver for any designer/developer of mobile & web apps as it produces all of the various sizes needed for specific environments in one shot. The app iteself is very intuitive and has a clean and simple interface. I couldn’t have designed it better myself!

Worked Perfectly

First project I’ve worked on that required icons for mobile devices. Bought this app due to ratings and features I needed and it worked perfectly. Easy to use and saved me so much time. Well worth it!

Seems to work as advertized

Okay, I bought it to export for OSX. I purchased the item for the express purpose of creating a icons for SystemModeler from Wolfram, which, for some reason, does not display the correct application icons. Unfortunately, Icons generated icons still does not do the trick. Must be another problem. Oh well. Scratch another couple of cups of coffee this week.

Not Retina Friendly

My primary complaint with this app is that it looks horrible on a Mac with a retina display. This isn’t simply religated to the images, either. Every bit of text seen on the app has that garbled look. I suppose the app may be useful but I had a hard time looking at it so I’ll be kissing my $5 goodbye and finding something else.
