Its Ok
I was trying to find a nice icon generator for web development. Basically I wanted to make my work in my art apps and have an easy way to preview and export my work in the proper formats for my needs. First off, I will say that the app itself is beautiful. It has lots of options, and allows me to get away from manually adding touches like glass and corners that Apple applies to icons automatically. I wanted the same thing for my Favicons.
So in my run of making an icon for my current project, I experienced the following:
First, I got everything set up and it was awesome applying different effects and text. So that was cool. But I then discovered that the app will not make a icon "set" in the ice format. That is to say, the current format for favicons includes a single ico file that has all of the different sizes contained within it. This app generates them separately, so thats no help.
Second, I had a version that I ended up not liking, so I added a new png file without transparancy. I then applied whatever effects I wanted, and the app output the first old one in the formats I wanted (I didnt notice that the app queues the icons added.
Third, the app completely crashed on the second output leaving me with no icons. I guess ill try it again, but I am not sure theres a point for me because it wont generate the format I need anyways.
So, three stars for what should be an awesome app for those doing development for mobile platforms (minus my crash, that could be on me). Two stars deducted for just not being right for me, quirky output, and the crash (although it could have been me, I doubt it).
Additionally I have noticed that any review that is slightly critical is geting marked as "not helpful". Having a healthy and honest discourse about apps allows for the customer to be as well informed as possible, and also provides valuable feedback to the app developers.
